Capturing ordinary objects through exquisite light to share their timeless beauty.
As a fine art photographer, I create timeless Dutch Master inspired images reflecting the beauty of ordinary objects in exquisite light using a technique called light painting. I am known for images that not only feature this distinctive light, but strong compositions using various materials, textures and subjects. My work has been internationally recognized and showcased in numerous competitions and publications and can be found through my website and social media sites. I spend my time gardening, hiking and photographing subjects that resonate with my style and passion as an artist.
For this light painting technique, the camera set to a long exposure in a very dark room. A single light source, usually a flashlight, is used to ‘paint’ the scene with the light. Using this technique, I can emphasize the portions of the scene I want to bring out, leaving in shadows those I want more subdued. This style of still life photography often resembles the paintings of the Dutch Masters.
I hope that my work will make you pause for a moment to appreciate the abundance that mother nature provides us every day. I want my images to provide a sense of wonder, and I hope they cause the viewer to pause and think, if only for a moment. This crazy, cluttered world we live in needs more moments of pause.
