The Unlikely Pair series grew out of my passion for light painting and my love of vintage objects, gardening, and still life photography. Using a long exposure in a darkened space, I “paint” the scene with a handheld light, gradually revealing each object. This technique allows me to control how light moves across surfaces, bringing out texture, shape, and color while creating a sense of depth and atmosphere.
In this series, I bring together objects that rarely meet: vintage tools collected over the years and fresh produce from my garden. I enjoy the tension created by placing these unrelated elements together—a level balanced over peaches, peppers resting on a wood plane, pears caught in a pair of tongs. Each pairing suggests a bit of visual humor, reflected in titles that invite viewers to pause and look again.
